iPhone stolen in India: who to call

Short answerFrom another phone or a computer, mark your iPhone as lost at icloud.com/find. Then block your SIM with your network, and call your bank. If you're in danger, call 112 first.

Take a breath, and ask someone to help if you can. We read each number below on an official page on 3 November 2026. Where it's a regulator's or government page rather than the company's own, the note says so. Numbers change, so if one doesn't work, use the official page beside it. Numbers that only work from your own network's phone won't help until you have a SIM again, so look for another way to reach them. Call costs vary.

First steps

  1. Mark your iPhone as lost at icloud.com/find. Here's the full plan.
  2. Block your SIM with your network, so nobody else can receive your login codes. Ask how to get your own codes or a replacement SIM.
  3. Call your banks and e-wallets, and ask them to protect your accounts.
  4. Report it to the police and ask about blocking the phone.

Block the phone

India has a national service for blocking a lost or stolen phone, on a website belonging to the Department of Telecommunications. Before you start, you need a police complaint and a replacement SIM for your old number, because the form sends a code to it by text message. So ask your mobile network for the replacement SIM first.

WhoWhat to do
CEIR, part of Sanchar SaathiBlock your lost or stolen phone
Use their official help page.
Have ready: the police complaint number and a copy, an ID document (mask the number if you use Aadhaar), and the phone's brand, price and where and when it was lost. The IMEI and purchase invoice are optional. If the phone was lost without its SIM, the form tells you to go to the CEIR police officer for your district instead. The same site lets you check a request or unblock a phone you get back.

Report fraud or identity theft

If money has been taken or you think someone is using your accounts, call 1930 straight away, then tell your bank. We did not find a single national service that cancels all your cards at once, so contact each bank yourself.
